Borovalley Veterinary Clinic Seminar:  Key Factors that cause poor performance in Thoroughbred Racehorses.

The above event was held at Borovalley Vet Clinic on Tuesday the 15th November 2011 for local Racehorse Trainers and Racehorse Owners.

The speakers for the night included Veterinarians Simon Fahey, David Roche and Guest speaker Fiona Harriss (See Fiona Harriss bio attached) .  Also attending was Liam Holton from Interchem who was representing the sponsors of the night Audevard. Audevard is a french company specialising in veterinary products for performance horses. Matt Walsh and Tom Lawlor from Nortev were also in attendance and demonstrated the new Equine Nebulizer the company has developed for treating respiratory tract inflammation and infections.

The talk centered on key areas associated with horses performing badly when they are expected to run well on the racetrack.  Topics discussed were Upper  and Lower Respiratory Tract problems, Exercise Induced Pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH), Virus prevention, Stomach Ulcers in Racehorses, Muscle disorders and the role of the veterinarian in diagnosing and treating these problems.

Over 70 clients attended the event which included some of Wexford’s top racehorse trainers.
